Under the government's proposals on short-term letting, properties could not be advertised on the likes of Airbnb without planning permission.

Enforcement will be key, in cracking down on short-term letting practices on online platforms.
That's according to Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin, who has been responding to the government's plans to address the current shortage in long-term rental properties.
Under the proposal, properties would not be allowed to advertise on the likes of Airbnb without planning permission.
Deputy O'Broin believes these online platforms and estate agents will need to be fined to enforce the policy:
"If the government is now going to require platforms to demonstrate that the properties they're advertising are compliant, the issue is what happens if they don't do that.
"The vast majority of properties currently on Airbnb for example don't have the appropriate exemption or planning permission and that's why fines are so important. The only way to ensure compliance is if you hit the platforms and the estate agents in their pocket."
