The Garda Commissioner says the street value of cocaine has increased by around 25% in Ireland in the past few months.

Last year €175 million worth of cocaine was seized in Ireland.

There have also been a number of high profile seizures this year.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says the price of cocaine on the rise, making Ireland a more lucrative target for organised crime gangs.

A report by the Health Research Board last year shows cocaine use has risen by 135% in the space of six years here.
