Three fatal road accidents since 10pm last night

It's been a tragic night on Irish roads- with three separate road collisions causing the death of three individuals.

The first accident took place in Duagh Village, Listowel, Co.Kerry at approximately 9.50pm  a male pedestrian, aged in his late teens, was seriously injured and removed from the scene to Kerry University Hospital.

He later passed away, a post mortem will take place in due course.  The female driver, in her early 20s and the three passengers (all in their later teens) of the vehicle were uninjured.

Gardaí in Listowel are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

 

The second road traffic collision occurred at Scrine Hill,  Co. Roscommon near Athleague.

At approximately 2.50am Gardaí were alerted to the scene of a single vehicle collision, where a male driver, in his early 20s was fatally injured when the car he was driving overturned.

A post mortem will take place in due course.

The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.

The third fatal accident occurred on the M1 Motorway, Dundalk, Co. Louth.

At approximately 2.45am Gardaí were alerted to a road traffic collision at Junction 16 southbound on the M1 motorway.

A male pedestrian, aged in his 40s, was fatally injured when struck by a vehicle. His body remains at the scene. A post mortem will take place in due course.The male driver, aged in his early 50s, and his three passengers (aged 50s and 40s) were attended to by ambulance personnel at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI). The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
