It's thought that being verified on Twitter could cost you 8 euro a month.

Taking to Twitter last night, the new company's owner, Elon Musk, said the current system doesn't work.

Currently, verification is given to notable accounts.

There are also rumours the new subscription would allow users to edit tweets.

Last month, Twitter was sold to Tesla Founder Elon Musk for nearly 45 billion euro.
