Two Men Appear in Court Over Midlands Drug Seizure

They've been remanded in custody.

Tim Gilchrist, of Mavis Bank, Newrath, Waterford and pilot and Michal Luczak, with an address at Primrose Avenue, Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare were arrested on the 4th of August.

Gardaí monitored a single-engined plane coming into Abbeyshrule Aerodrome in Co. Longford.

Later, two vehicles near Lough Owel in Westmeath were stopped and over 120kg of cocaine was uncovered in one of the vehicles.

This morning in Mullingar District Court, Gardaí said they needed time to obtain direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The directions are reportedly related to a trial venue and possible extra charges.

The two men are accused of possessing cocaine for sale or supply.

Judge Mitchell remanded them in continuing custody to appear again on the 8th of September for directions from the DPP.
