The identity of the man is not yet known.
Gardaí are currently investigating a scene in Galway where a man's body was reportedly found on the grounds of Galway City Council at Galway's City Hall, reports the Connacht Tribune.
Gardaí were called to the scene after midday, where the man's remains were discovered in an area covered with shrubbery, near the main Galway City Council building.
It is understood the man was homeless and originally from the Galway area.
His body has been taken to University Hospital Galway, where a postmortem examination will be carried out.
The identity of the man is not yet known.
Today's scheduled meeting of the Galway City Council at 2pm has reportedly been cancelled.
