Shane O’Grady will appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court charged with being intoxicated on board an aircraft

A drunk "foul-mouthed" Irish passenger on a flight from Las Vegas to Gatwick has found himself with a hefty €1,142 fine, after urinating in his plane seat.

Waterford Man Shane O’Grady (30) was arrested last Wednesday while travelling on a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 flight after being "persistently disruptive and intoxicated" on the journey.

O’Grady reportedly began to harass flight crew after being cut off from alcohol.

In an effort to get him to stop his behaviour, cabin crew turned on the seat-belt sign, but passengers were still allowed to use the bathroom.

However this turned out to be a bad move, as O’Grady then apparently urinated on his seat as a sort of protest to the sign being switched on.

Staff were then forced to change O'Grady into a sleep suit - given the state of his other clothes were no longer viable.

Upon landing in Gatwick, police boarded the plane and escorted O’Grady off the aircraft where he was subsequently arrested.

He was then remanded in custody to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court the following day where he was charged for being intoxicated on board an aircraft.

O’Grady pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined £1,000 as well as £85 costs and a £100 victim surcharge.

Moral of the story? Well, don't do that...
