We're in for it over the weekend...
Plenty of rain and extrmely low temperatures, that's what awaits us this weekend.
The joys of Irish winter are now in full effect!
As of early on Friday morning, a status yellow rainfall warning came into effect for Cork and Waterford, a warning that will remain in place until 2am on Saturday morning.
As for the rest of the country, patchy frost should clear by early on Friday morning.
It will be mostly cloudy on Friday across the southern half of the country, with scattered outbreaks of rain, heavy and persistent at times across southern counties, with the risk of spot flooding and local thunder.
Friday night will see scattered outbreaks of rain but they'll soon become confined to the southwest, with a few showers possible in the east later.
Mostly cloudy today across the southern half of the country with scattered outbreaks of rain, heavy & persistent at times across southern counties. Some bright or sunny spells across the north of the country though, where it should remain largely dry. Cool, max temps 6 to 10°C. pic.twitter.com/JtBe47Aude

As for Saturday, much of the country will see a fully dry day with sunny spells, however, some showery rain may affect southern and eastern coastal counties, mainly appearing along the coast.
It will be cold and frosty in parts, with lowest temperatures of -2 to + 3 degrees, coldest across Atlantic coastal counties.
Finally, Sunday morning will see things improve a little, with a few sunny spells.
But another chilly night is set to follow with lowest temperatures of -2 and +2 degrees.
Hold your blankets close and don't let go!
