GARDAÍ are treating the death as suspicious
The body of a man believed to be in his 50's or 60's was discovered in an apartment off Galway's Lane, Cork City shortly after 8am Monday morning.
The man was discovered by his Wife in a pool of blood, who then immediately alerted the emergency services.
Paramedics attended the scene where the man was pronounced dead.
The direction of the garda investigation will be determined by the results of a post mortem examination, after Gardaí notified the Office of the State Pathologist.
The post mortem examination will now be conducted at Cork University Hospital (CUH).
Gardaí began door to door inquiries in the area to determine the last known movements of the deceased or if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious
