A senior police officer has said the iconic Primark store in Belfast is 'at risk of imminent collapse,' reports the BBC.

A fire broke out in the five-storey listed Bank Buildings at about 11:00 this morning.

The roof of the building is understood to have collapsed.

A number of fire crews are at the scene and the fire has reportedly spread to the ground floor.

The building is the famous Bank Buildings, originally designed by Sir Robert Taylor and erected by Waddell Cunningham in 1785, and redesigned in 1900 by WH Lynn.

It was currently going undergoing a major undergoing refurbishment, to be extended in a project costing an estimated £30m.

The building was evacuated, and there have been no reports of injuries.
