Met Eireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for six counties, ahead of wild weather this weekend.
Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry will all see southerly winds reach mean speeds of 50 to 65kph heading towards the weekend.
The warning kicks in tomorrow at 3pm and will remain in place until midday on Saturday.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, gust 90 to 100 km/h later Friday and Friday night in Atlantic coastal counties, strongest on the coast.”
Bone chilling.
Meanwhile, temperatures will plunge to -4C tonight.
Met Eireann’s latest forecast states: “Tonight will be dry in most areas, with clear or partly clear skies, but a few isolated showers will occur along the north coast.
“As winds slacken further, patches of mist and fog will develop. Very cold, with widespread frost and a risk of icy patches.
“Minimum temperatures 0 to -4C, but a little higher on Atlantic coasts.''
