
Storm Callum is expected to hit Ireland on Thursday evening.
Met Eireann has placed 13 counties on a status orange warning for strong winds and gusts of up to 130kmph, as Storm Callum approaches Ireland.
The warning will kick in for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath, Cork and Waterford at 10pm on Thursday and remain in place until 9am on Friday.
While Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry will be on orange alert from the same time, right up to 12 midday on Friday.
A Met Eireann forecaster revealed: “Strong winds associated with Storm Callum, coinciding with high spring tides will affect Ireland on Thursday night and Friday morning.
“Winds will be strongest overnight and early on Friday, gusting between 110 and 130 km/h at coasts.”
Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Limerick and Tipperary will be on a status yellow warning for gusts of up to 110kph, beginning in at 11pm on Thursday, valid until 9am on Saturday.
The forecaster added: “Strong winds associated with Storm Callum, coinciding with high spring tides will affect Ireland on Thursday night and Friday morning.
“Winds will be strongest overnight and early on Friday, gusting between 90 and 110 km/h at coasts.”

Calm before the storm.
Meanwhile, today (Wednesday) will see temperatures reach 21C. However tomorrow will be more of a mixed bag as the storm approaches.
The forecaster continued: “Rather cloudy and breezy on Thursday morning with fresh and gusty southeast winds veering southwest.
“The rain in the southwest and west will become widespread during the morning with heavy falls in places, and the risk of isolated thunderstorms.
“Brighter conditions with showers will follow from the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 13C to 16C.”
