The teen has been taken to Tullamore General Hospital
An 18-year-old is in a serious condition hospital, after he was struck by a van in a Athlone Housing estate this morning at around 9:30am, reports the Westmeath Independent.
The young male was injured at the entrance to the Valleycourt estate on the Dublin Road.
Speaking to the Westmeath Independent, Sergeant Andrew Haran of Athlone Garda Station said teh teen was "seriously ill" and was taken by ambulance to Tullamore General Hospital.
He added the teen is from the Midlands area.
A road closure has been put in place on the Dublin Road, around the Killyon Hill area of Athlone while Gardai carry out an investigation.
