''As I got closer to the top of the stairs I heard the panic in her voice''

A mortified dad has told of the frightening moment he went to check on his sleeping toddler, only to find a fox had snuck into her room and was biting her.

According to the Irish Mirror, Little Heidi, three, woke up screaming: ''Fox! Fox!'' As the wild animal attacked her while she was in bed at her home in Petts Wood, south east London.

Heidi's Dad George Cooper, was watching television downstairs with his Wife and new born baby, when heard the distressed Toddler call out from upstairs.

George, 37, said: “Heidi occasionally wakes up in the night but as I got closer to the top of the stairs I heard the panic in her voice.

“I turned on the light and saw it jump down. She was screaming ‘fox’. I grabbed her and shut her in the other bedroom.

“I stamped my foot and the fox left the house by going down the stairs and out the back door.”

Heidi suffered bites to her hand and scratches to her arms, but thankfully the injuries weren't any worse.

He added: “I just can’t believe it. I’m the type that treats this as urban legend. But I’m shocked it happened to us.”

It's understood the back door to the family home had been left open due to the heatwave in the UK at the time.
