US President Donald Trump has cancelled his planned visit to Ireland.

Donald Trump's planned trip to Ireland on November 12 will now not go ahead, reports the independent.

The controversial visit was announced last month, when the White House said the Irish visit would "renew the deep and historic ties between our two nations."

However, a number of political parties - including Labour, Green Party and People Before Profit - had vowed to take part in protests to coincide with the visit.

Finian McGrath and John Halligan - both ministers of state from the Independent Alliance - also said they would join public demonstrations in November.

Independent.ie  is also reporting the President's entire European itinerary is now under review - but the Irish element is set to be cancelled.
