As the hospitality sector in Ireland slowly reopens, demand has never been higher for staff, however there is a shortage of skilled labor within Ireland today.

In particular, a major shortage of chefs is a clear concern for hospitality providers in the region with many chefs and indeed other skilled hospitality workers switching their focus to other sectors for
employment during the pandemic.

As this sector continues to take steppingstones to the return to full normality, Drogheda Institute has a number of courses to support the upskilling and training of prospective employees in this sector including courses in Culinary Arts (Professional Cookery) and Hospitality, Hotel, Bar & Restaurant Studies.

Louise Clarke spoke to Orla Morrissey from the DIFE Culinary Department about the industry and how you can upskill.
