The prize is the wife’s weight in beer.
A Lithuanian couple have won the World Wife-Carrying Championship for a second year running.
The contest in the small Finnish town of Sonkajarvi involves men completing an obstacle course with their wives slung over their shoulders.
The event, now in its 24th year, attracts competitors from over twelve countries including the UK, United States and Australia.
Thousands of people flock to Sonkajarvi to watch couples wade through waist-high water and leap over structures.
Vytautas Kirkliauskas and his wife Neringa Kirkliauskiene cleared the 250m course in 66.72 seconds, clinching the 2019 title.
Despite the event’s name, couples don’t have to be married.
The only rules are that the woman must be over 17 years of age and weigh at least 49kg.
