Money can be an awkward topic...

Right now in Ireland, it's hard to remember what a full lotto win even sounds like - reminder: the €19 million jackpot has still not been won here.

That aside, there is one person trying to figure out if they did the right thing with their winnings.

They took to Reddit saying they and their wife won $5.6 million.

They're both 24 years and the poster works in the financial sector.

Well-equipped with finance knowledge, they decided on a number of ways to spend the money.

They wrote: "invest 3 million in a combination of mutual funds, REITs, and preferred stock funds for a very steady hands-off extremely low-risk solid return approach. With the 2 million we ended up buying a 5 million dollar apartment complex that cashflows and will give a high return with low risk."

Delighted with how responsible they were, the couple decided then to tell their families.

However, one family was not too happy with the way they spent the winnings.

The Reddit user said the family started talking about a huge family trip, how their debt would be paid, and more.

They got annoyed then and said they were no longer welcomed in the family and should never talk to them again.

The format of the post asks the question, "Am I the A*****e?"

To which most people said that the lotto winner was totally in the right to be responsible and use the money for themselves.

While others expressed shock that the family weren't just happy for them.
