Well, who'd have thought?

A new study has shown that women are more attracted to men who mumble.

The University of California carried out the study, which found that women perceive mumbling as more masculine.

Researchers found women linked mumbling with being macho.

And to prove it, the likes of Marlon Brando and Tom Hardy were given as examples.

Apparently, people feel that precise pronunciation is more linked to femininity.

And that was something that men found more attractive, with many associating Elizabeth Hurley with clear diction.

So, how was it all done?

The study is the first of its kind and 42 volunteers were recorded as part of it.

They were asked to perform various speech tasks and then their vocals were then ranked for attractiveness.

Researchers found clear speech tones were deemed much more appealing in females than males.
