How adorable would this be?

A live-action remake of Bambi is reportedly in the works.

Deadline report that it'll follow in the footsteps (or pawprints?) of the likes of The Lion King and The Jungle Book which have received the CGI treatment in recent years. Writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet of Captain Marvel and Lindsey Beer are teaming up to write the script.

The original movie came out in 1942 and was based on Felix Salton's novel from 1923 - Bambi, a Life in the Woods.

The new adaptation will roughly follow the same storyline, focusing on a fawn who's learning how to navigate into adulthood with the help of his pals, Thumper and Flower, after tragically losing his mother.

Disney has yet to release any information on the remake so it's unsure when it'll be in cinemas.

However, we do know that the new film will be produced by the same production company who're behind a Pinocchio remake.

Bambi will follow on from Disney's previous remakes which were box office hits. The Lion King raked in £1.27bn at the worldwide box office, while The Jungle Book brought in £739m while the latest remake, Mulan will be in Irish cinemas from March 27th.
