It's being described as the most competitive year yet!

'Wolfwalkers' by Kilkenny's Cartoon Saloon was the big winner at last night's Irish Animation awards.

The Oscar-nominated film won a total of four awards, including Best Irish Feature or Special.

Cartoon Saloon also picked up two awards for their animated kids series, Dorg Von Dango.

'Her Song' won the award for Best Animated Short Film.

It portrays the story of the Mother and Baby Homes, which was featured on The Late Late Show in January.

Animation Ireland Chief Executive, Ronan McCabe, said it was the most competitive year the awards has seen.

"It has never been harder to win an Irish Animation Award."

"And judging by the way the animation industry is growing in Ireland, it isn’t going to get any easier next time," he added.

The event was broadcast live online and was hosted by Irish TV and radio star Baz Ashmawy.

Four new categories were added this year: Best Storyboarding, Best Editing, Best Student Film and Best New Irish IP.
