Will you be watching the final season of Peaky Blinders?

The BBC has announced that the wait is finally over for season 6 of Peaky Blinders which will be released on television screens on 27 February at 9pm. This will be the final season of Peaky Blinders and it looks like it will be going out with a bang.

Fan’s have been waiting patiently since 2019 but anticipation for the sixth season of Peaky Blinders remains extremely high and it not hard to see why.

The new season will see the reappearance of Tom Hardy and the star of the Queen’s Gambit Anya Taylor-joy. Cillian Murphy will once again reprise his roles as Tommy Shelby who will continue his war against fascist politician Oswald Mosley (Sam Clafin).

Fan’s of Line of Duty will also be happy to see Stephen Graham join the Peaky Blinders cast in what has been described as a mysterious role.

A teaser trailer gave fans a first glimpse at Graham’s character in action during a meeting with Murphy’s Tommy Shelby and saying ominously: “I hear there are some men here from Birmingham looking for me.”

Season 6 has been described by both cast members and director Anthony Byrne as dark with Murphy telling Esquire that the final season is “Dark as f**k” while also stating in a Rolling Stone interview "I think it's going to be very intense." “The word we keep using is 'gothic'. Yeah, it's going to be heavy!"

Unfortunately  Aunt Polly Gray actress Helen McCory will not feature in Season 6. The much loved actress passed away in April 2021 with Murphy confirming that McCrory had not filmed any new episodes prior to her death.

Murphy said "Helen was the heart of that show and it was hard to make it without her. Really hard. There was this huge absence on the set. We all felt it. She died while we were shooting. She was too young. You can’t help but think of all the amazing roles she would have had."
