Met Éireann has issued the warnings for four counties.

Met Éireann is warning of localised flooding in parts of the south and west today.

A status yellow rain alert for Cork and Kerry will be in effect from 11am until 5 o'clock tomorrow morning.

There's also a warning for Galway and Mayo between 5pm and 1am.

Heavy rain in the affected counties will lead to localised flooding in places.

Here's the full forecast for today:

Mostly cloudy with patchy drizzle and mist.

Rain over southern areas will spread north to most areas through the afternoon and evening.

However, some parts of Ulster will stay dry.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, increasing fresh to strong in southern areas by evening.

For New Year's Eve, it's expected to be a windy day.

Fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds, reaching near gale force at times, before easing light to moderate towards evening.

There'll be patchy light rain and drizzle in many areas in the morning but becoming drier and brighter by afternoon with sunny spells and just the odd spot of drizzle.

Very mild with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
