There's a request for those behind the website Tattle Life to come before the Oireachtas Media Committee.

Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has expressed his concerns with the content on the platform, and is calling for stricter regulations around anonymous bullying and trolling.

The website was first established in 2018 as a forum to critique influencers and celebrities.

However, Deputy Crowe has found ordinary people have become targets in the conversation threads.

He said: "Whilst we often accuse Twitter of being a space where a lot of bullying and trolling happens, that isn't the reason why it was set up.

"Tattle seems to be quite the opposite. There are personal threads about people and comments after comments including photos of people's children and homes. It's all up there."
