Avonmore Super Milk want to make the transition back to school as seamless as possible
Summer holidays are over for kids around Ireland. Video games will now be replaced by learning tablets, as school returns for the year.
Returning to the classroom can be quite an adjustment for kids. And equally so for parents, as the frantic rush of packing school lunches and making sure the kids are out the door in time to beat the bell recommences.
So to help ease you back into the groove of the hustle and bustle of school, we’ve teamed up with Avonmore Super Milk to give you some ultra-handy back to school tips!
1. Post the daily routine
Help little ones establish a morning and bedtime schedule with an illustrated checklist that gets displayed proudly on the wall.
2. The back of the car seat can be your best friend
Set up the pocket on the back seat of the car as a sort of a last minute ‘in case of emergency’ department, and keep it stocked with handy supplies.
The kids will be able to grab those little necessities they may have forgotten from the house, such as tissues and maybe a little snack for break-time.
3. Get file friendly
A "home file" is a great way to keep homework and future assignments sorted for the year.
It could be either a file box or a cabinet drawer, with a slot for each subject; You could even colour-code the tabs to match up with each class.
Not only does this system give kids a place to unload past assignments, but it also helps them organise important learning material for the year ahead.
4. Make weeknight dinners easy
This one is more for you than the kids.
Setting out a weekly menu in advance and having everyone agree and even have some input (lets be real, there’s going to need to be compromises), means less stress after school deciding what’s for dinner.
You can even include a suggestions jar for next weeks menu!
5. Dedicate a homework area
Setting out an area dedicated solely to homework and nothing else is a great way to ensure they won’t have any distractions while they’re studying.
Although it won’t be popular, banning phones and tablets from the homework area may be a good idea too (unless they need them for school work).
Now we aren’t saying these tips are going to make back to school a total breeze... But they certainly will help the transition back into classroom life!
