A lonely and lustful dolphin has been terrorising swimmers at a French beach.

The mammal, nicknamed Zafar, has been reportedly rubbing himself against tourists and boats for the past few weeks in the village of Landévennec in Brittany.

The 10ft-long bottlenose dolphin has been the star attraction in the area for some time.

He was considered friendly and gentle, allowing people to pet him and swim with him, but authorities grew concerned when Zafar attmepted to get more intimate with beach goers and appeared visibly excited.

The local mayor has now banned swimming any time the randy dolphin's in the water, and warned visitors to stay 50 metres away from him if they spot him.

It's after a woman had to be rescued by the coastguard last month after Zafar refused to allow her to return to dry land.
