Well, this is surprising!

More than nine in ten passengers are satisfied with Ireland's public transport services, according to new research.

Over 2,500 Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus, Iarnród Éireann and Luas customers were surveyed this summer on behalf of the National Transport Authority by Kantar Millward Brown.

According to the findings, 93 per cent of passengers are satisfied with the service provided by their transport operator.

This is up from 91 per cent compared to the last time this research was carried out in Autumn 2017.

Satisfaction with Luas services tops the poll with 96 per cent overall satisfaction, although it's down from 98 per cent in Autumn 2017.

95 per cent of Dublin Bus passengers are satisfied with their service.

Satisfaction with DART significantly improved from 84 per cent in Autumn 2017 to 93 per cent.

89 per cent of Iarnród Éireann customers are satisfied with their service.

While satisfaction with Bus Éireann services remains relatively unchanged at 83 per cent.

However, weekend frequency, hours of operation and ability to make connections score relatively lower compared to other factors.

The National Transport Authority says these are issues that they'll address in the future with the operators.
