Saoirse Ronan receives Oscar nomination for Best Actress

Saoirse Ronan has received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Ladybird.

It's the Carlow star's third Oscar nod.

Earlier this month, Saoirse won a Golden Globe for her role in the movie.

There's plenty of Irish interest at this year's Academy Awards - writer-director Martin McDonagh has received three nominations for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

They include Best Picture, Director and Original Screenplay.

Daniel Day-Lewis has been nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Phantom Thread.

And Cartoon Saloon's animated film The Breadwinner is shortlisted for Best Animated Feature Film.

The 90th Academy Awards take place in Los Angeles on March 4th.
