IKEA has highlighted how damaging bullying can be by asking students to shout negative insults at plants.

The Swedish company asked students to bully a plant for 30 days to prove how negativity can stop growth.

The live test was carried out at schools across the United Arab Emirates recently.

Two plants were given the exact same amount of sunlight and water. One was played positive audio messages on loop for 30 days, while the other was played insults.

Incredibly, the plants which were played the negative comments withered after 30 days, while the ones played compliments remained healthy.

Ikea says its key message was that spreading kindness helps us all to grow and thrive.
