Kay Longstaff, a British woman who lives in Spain, was rescued from the Adriatic Sea on Sunday.

The 46 year old fell from the deck of the Norwegian Star cruise ship about 95km off Croatia's coast late on Saturday night.

She was found 10 hours later by the Croatian coast guard and taken to hospital.

The captain of the rescue ship, Lovro Oreskovic, spoke to the press and said Ms Longstaff told the crew that she practices yoga and sang while floating to stay awake.

However, he said she was exhausted from the ordeal:

"It is a real miracle that she is alive. It's obvious that she's very fit."
