1316 days later...
And breathe... Ever since that infamous vote on June 23, 2016, it's hard to put into words what has happened.
But here we are, at 11pm tonight the UK will officially leave the European Union, finally.
On Twitter, British people have been getting perhaps just a tad emotional about the whole thing.
I feel heartsore that today was my last full day as an EU citizen. More than anything I’m desperately sorry so many of my friends have been made to feel unwelcome in their homes + as though their value is the sum of their salary. Standing with you now and always ♥️ #LeaveALightOn

Others are concerned about which lane they'll have to pass through at passport control.
Just left Switzerland for the last time as an EU citizen. I asked the Zurich border guard what happens next week when I return. She said they have no idea. “Most likely use the non-EU lane and get passport stamped.” #Brexit pic.twitter.com/tXSZjPLHhx

While Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan chipped in with a cheeky dig at Boris Johnson.
Dear lord, what a sad little life Boris, You ruined my rights as an EU Citizen living in the UK completely just so you could have the money. I hope now you will spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum because you have all the grace of a reversing dump trunk
