If chocolate is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning, it may not be such a bad thing.

Typically, chocolate is considered unhealthy and as with any food, over indulgence can have a negative affect on your health.

With that said though, Research from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston in the USA has suggested that a bit of milk chocolate as the first meal of the day could actually help with weight-loss.

LadBible reports that the study involved giving 100 grams of chocolate to 19 post-menopausal women within an hour of waking up and again within an hour of going to sleep every day for two weeks.

You might think the results would involve the subjects piling on the pounds after swapping breakfast for a sugary snack, but you'd be wrong.

It found that it had no impact on the weight of participants and actually aided weight loss.

Ok, but surely they were put on balanced diet to cancel out the affect of the chocolate? Nope! The participants weren't restricted on their diet at all during the trial.

So when Christmas rolls around again, and you're feeling guilty for tucking into a choccie Santa for the 4th breakfast in a row, remember this study!
