Over 2,000 new members at Bird Watch Ireland as people look for Covid hobbies

People have been looking to develop new hobbies during the Covid-19 restrictions.

Running, learning the guitar and reading are some of the new hobbies that have been picked up by members of the public during lockdown.

Bird Watch Ireland is reporting over 2 thousand new members have signed up, with many more taking the Garden Birds survey to monitor what species they're seeing while at home.

Meanwhile, Astronomy Ireland's online classes are also reaching record levels.

Editor of Astronomy Ireland David Moore says its beginner classes in particular have been popular.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the amount of UFO sightings in Ireland!
