A mother is facing criticism from some people online after sharing a video of her newborn.
In the throwback clip of her now 4-month-old, TikTok user @laraticaofficial shows off her daughter at one day old still in the hospital.
The video sparked a debate for a small detail - the newborn had her ears pierced.
It prompted people to comment and question the decision to get a baby's ears pierced before they even leave the hospital.

One person said, "Bro was still in the damn hospital bed but had earrings on"
While another questioned, "so do they pierce the ears before they cut the cord?"
And one person, was a bit concerned saying, "How is that ear piercing even legal? I thought the age was 3mo."
However, some people were jumping to the mum's defence, with some saying it's common in some cultures.
One person commented, "In our culture/family, we also have ears pierced as soon as they are born."
And another was standing up for the mum, saying each to their own and don't mind the comments: "she is adorable and i totally love the earrings.... Who cares what other people say...We live one life...."
