Dog lovers - do you think your pet knows what you're thinking?

Apparently they do.

New research suggests that dogs can understand human intentions. The study was compiled by Gottingen University, Tyla.com reports.

It suggested that our pups can tell the difference between deliberate actions and mistakes.

Dr Britta Schunemann, an author of the study, said:

"The dogs in our study clearly behaved differently depending on whether the actions of a human experimenter were intentional or unintentional."

We've known for years that dogs are a clever kind of animal. They can be trained easily and can recognise commands like 'sit', 'paw', 'bark' etc.
However, this new study also alleges that they can also tell the difference between something done on purpose and something done unknowingly.
But how did they prove it?

Using treats, of course! 51 dogs were involved in the study and researchers tested how they reacted when food rewards were withheld.

They got a person to intentionally and unintentionally withhold treats from the dogs. The researchers then discovered that the pets behaved differently for each.

Co-author Dr Hannes Rakoczy said:

"This suggests dogs may indeed be able to identify humans' intention-in-action."

So, think you can fool your dog? Think again!
