British tourists have voted Dublin the world's second most friendly city to visit.

A survey by Hotels.com found one in 5 UK holiday makers go abroad hoping to make new friends while 4 in 10 have had a holiday romance.

Dublin was ranked number 2 on the list, after Ibiza and before Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

The company's website reads:

Ireland has one of the youngest populations in Europe, and its capital city is especially family-friendly. So, it’s not just the grown-ups who'll be entertained in lively Dublin – there’s plenty on offer for the kids, too. Parents with toddlers or teens can expect a warm welcome wherever they go, and enjoy a range of citywide attractions from historic sites to sandy beaches and the vast green space of Phoenix Park. Plus, with a whole host of imaginative and creative indoor spaces, it doesn’t matter what the Irish weather hurls at you because there'll always be something to do.

It's been a good year for Dublin to be fair, not only has it done well in the eyes of British tourists, it was also named among the world's most instagrammable places.

The capital came in 27th with the city’s medieval history, charming pubs and street art highlighted.

The list from global travel site Big 7 Travel has Kerry in 39th place, while Singapore topped the list.

Meanwhile, Dublin 8 specifically beat areas in Rio, Tokyo and Vancouver in a list of coolest neighbourhoods in the world in a list from TimeOut.
