A new survey out this morning shows seventy nine percent of people are unlikely to buy an electric car within the next 12 months.
The survey by The Northern and Western Region Assembly, found if more vehicle charging points were available more people would be inclined to make the purchase.
The NWRA says one million electric vehicles by 2030 is not achievable without the proper infrastructure in place.
Economist with the organisation John Daly says the percentage of people planning on buying an electric vehicle rises if the chargers are there:
"In the actual percentage of respondents that note they're very unlikely to buy an EV, actually dropped notably from 79% to 67%, while the percentage of those that are very likely to purchase and EV actually rises from 3% to 11% if more publicly available EV charge points were to be provided."
