Study finds half of parents think fizzy drinks should have a minimum age limit

A new study has found that half of parents in UK think fizzy drinks should have a minimum age limit.

The research which was carried out on 1,000 parents of children aged 3 to 11 years old, found that 46%  think there should be age limit of sugary drinks.

They agreed that the suitable age for children to begin drinking fizzy drinks is 10 years old.

Researchers also found that 82% of parents thought there was too much sugar in drinks for children.

According to Tyla, half of those surveyed said that they are often nagged by their children for fizzy drinks.

Meanwhile, others claim that they avoid the drinks aisle when shopping with children.

The study, which was carried out by kids drink brand Doodles said:

"Our research confirms the suspicions millions of parents have, that the fizzy drinks market is heavily geared towards hooking youngsters on a lifetime of sugary fixes,"

"The research found 36 per cent of adults formed their fizzy drink habit as a kid."

"It's critical to give kids the best start, and we hope to play our small part in this."
