A new survey has found some people are paying €75 for a GP visit

Some people are paying as high as €75 per to visit their GP.

Prices tend to be higher in urban centres, where there are frequent doctor shortages.

On the other hand, some people are only paying €26 per visit.

The varied responses are contained in an Ipsos B&A poll for the Department of Health.

The poll reports that Dublin is the most expensive, with 48% of private patients there paying more than €50.

2% of people surveyed are paying €75 nationwide.

The Irish Independent reports, thousands of those who became eligible for free GP visits have yet to claim the benefit.

The survey reveals 1 in 6 are paying between €26 and €50 for a GP appointment.

While more than a third are paying between €51 and €75.
