What are the other 10% doing?

When you're feeling a little down, tired or worn out, what's your go-to for a pick me up?

It might be calling that perky friend for a chat, heading out for a walk - or it could be simply food.

And a new survey has found that plenty of us think food is the perfect way to lighten our mood.

Health brand Yakult has found that 90% of people in Ireland now use food to boost their mood.

So what types of food are top of the list for people?

Milk chocolate and coffee topped the list - no surprise.

They were followed closely by biscuits and ice-cream.

Dr. Mary McCreey says scientific research has revealed a strong link between our gut and brain.

"Certain foods that we eat can produce in the gut the good, happy, feel-good hormone called serotonin," she says.

"It's believed that 90% of our serotonin is produced in the gut in relation to the type of foods we eat in our diet," she adds.
