Better out than in, as Shrek says.

An online survey might make you feel better or worse about how much you fart.

It found that 9 out of 10 people experience at least one gas-related symptom during the day.

The majority of people often feels gassy, with farting being the most common symptom experienced daily.

It also found that it can affect people’s quality of life the more frequently they happen.

The survey was carried out by researchers from the Rome Foundation, which is a U.S. nonprofit research organization focused on gastrointestinal health.

France’s Danone Nutricia Research, an offshoot of the Danone food company, funded and collaborated on the survey.

Almost 6,000 people were surveyed online about their health and other related factors.

81% of them said they had experienced flatulence in the past 24 hours, while 60% said they had a rumbling stomach, and 58% had burped.

The least common symptom was bloating, but it was still reported by 38% of participants.

And only 11% said they didn't feel any gas-related symptoms the day before.

The survey also found a correlation between those who reported a higher score of flatulence also tended to have worse scores on questionnaires asking about their mental health or overall quality of life.

Although, authors note this was only a correlation and not an official finding.
