We bet some people check it more...

A new study has found that over a quarter of people check their phones more than 50 times a day.

This was actually a reduction compared to 33 per cent of people the previous year.

Deloitte's Digital Consumer Trends report for 2021 involved the survey of 1,000 people.

It found that younger people were more likely to be heavy users.

Among those aged 18 to 24, 37 per cent checked their phone over 50 times a day, while women used their device slightly more than men.

More than a third of people say they check their phones within the first five minutes of waking up.

The annual survey shows that more people are watching TV on streaming services.

Meanwhile it found 57 per cent of people struggle to tell the difference between real and fake news.

Nearly half of respondents stopped using at least one social media website during 2021.

One of the most common issues people had with being on those platforms was "too much fake news".
