72% of people say they've been cheered up by a chat with a taxi driver

The research was done to celebrate World Kindness Day.

We do love the chats sure don't we?

And now we've the stats to prove it.

To celebrate World Kindness Day, taxi app, Free Now, have carried out research on our taxi journeys.

World Kindness day 2021 is today, 13th November.

It found that that 84% of people like to talk during a taxi trip and 72% have been cheered up by a chat with a driver.

The survey included 8,000 FREE NOW customers.

It also found that almost half (47%) say a driver has gone above and beyond for them during a trip.

Some of the kind acts done included returning a valuable item, putting on someone's favourite music on or even offering some life advice.

To mark the day, FREE NOW will match all tips from passengers paid by card via the app on this day.

The research also found that 63% of people say they regularly tip when taking a taxi.

With the most popular reason for tipping include having a good chat with the driver (76%).

People also tipped if the driver returned a valuable item (71%) and 66% of people tip when they find a taxi on a busy night.

While 56% do so for a trip to or from the airport.
