Every Irish household has it's sure signs that Christmas has begun.

Between the unexpected visitors, and the house smelling like a tub of cinnamon, every home has it's unique signs that the festive season is well and truly underway.

We've compiled a list of 8 things that scream 'it's Christmas' in the typical Irish house.

1. The festive table cloth is out

The basic coloured tablecloth is bundled up and thrown in the cupboard untill the new year, and the Christmas themed cloth is out, filling your dining room with colour and festive cheer.

 

2. Your mum's favourite line is "Stop - they're for the visitors!"

Picture this: Your mum has just done the biggest Christmas shop of all time, stocked up on every festive chocolate and biscuit you could imagine, you decide to crack open one of the several boxes of Roses, till you hear the famous last words:

"STOP! THEY'RE FOR THE VISITORS."

It's sure sign that holidays are coming, when you're greeted with the pungent stench of festive cheer every time you walk through the door.

If all those tunes aren't stuck in your head until January 5th at the earliest, you haven't done it right.

7. The Coca-Cola ad is on telly

Holidays are comin', holidays are comin', holidays are comin' - it's on our screens already.

It's the classic heart-warming ad to get you in the festive spirit.

If it doesn't fill you with the warm fuzzies of nostalgia, nothing will.
