Authorities in a region of Italy are paying couples €2000 to get married there

Authorities in the Italian region of Lazio are offering couples 2,000 euro to get married there.

It's an effort to boost a sector of the local economy that was effectively halted during the pandemic.

The campaign, called 'Lazio in love' is open to Italians and foreigners and runs until the end of this year.

Lazio is a region in central Italy that has the iconic ancient city Rome at it's heart - so whether you fancy a beach affair, a ceremony in a vineyard, or an ancient church in Rome, local authorities want to help you make it happen!

The campaign has set aside TEN MILLION euro to give to couples planning a wedding in the region.
