Would you keep it to yourself?

It's something we've all done - dreamed about winning the lotto.

You imagine that dream house, holiday or car but are you sharing any of your winnings?

We'd have thought people would want to share the happy news and spread a bit of that cash.

However, according to a new survey, many of us actually wouldn't even TELL our family.

A survey of over 1,100 people, commissioned by Play Pennsylvania, looked at people’s lottery playing habits and how they would react to hitting the jackpot.

The study found only one percent play every day, while 20 per cent claim they’ve never bought a ticket.

So what about strategy?

Well, according to studyfinds.org, people tend to rely on similar strategies to pick their numbers.

Many people said they use a lucky number, a birthday, or an anniversary date.

However, the top way is still just picking random numbers.

The survey also asked people about splitting the winnings if they buy a ticket for someone else.

And nearly half of the poll said they usually think ahead and promised to split the money with their friend, family member, or significant other.
