We're nothing if not predictable, we Irish!
The most common name of mothers in Ireland is Mary.
We shouldn't be surprised, they're everywhere. Everyone knows a Mary! We'd be willing to bet you're never more than 50 meters from a Mary in Ireland.
According to a survey by NameTags.ie 78 percent of Irish adults have a mother with the name.
It wasn't the only common Irish mammy name found during the survey though, which was done in the run up to Mother's Day this Sunday.
It was also found 12% of mams are called Maureen, 8% are named Bridget while 6 percent told the questionnaire their mother's called Anne.
That's not to even mention some of those double barrel Irish names - Mary-Bridget, Margaret-Mary, Mary-Anne - the possibilities are endless!
