In this day in age, it might sound like strange advice.

But an expert on the subject says online daters should be sending a maximum of 5 messages before meeting a match in person.

Do you ever get frustrated on your search for love, spending hours and hours chatting over back and ultimately going nowhere, so one of you inevitably ghost each other, you go back swiping, and the process repeats?

Well an Irish dating coach says your time would be much better spent actually meeting each other and getting to know one another in person.

Francis Kellegher believes now is the best time ever to be single and dating and says many people are taking the wrong approach on the likes of Tinder and Bumble.

She says online dating apps should only be used for 'throwing your net wide' and making that initial connection.

She's advocating getting off the app as soon as possible and going out to do something like a walk or coffee date, which have become hugely popular since the pandemic.

Of course, it goes without saying that if your match is giving you bad vibes or something doesn't feel right, it's best to move on straight way.

But next time you get a match, consider changing your tactic!
