Even when it comes to speaking to each other, we always put our own unique slant onto the English language.
Nothing has illustrated it better than a viral Twitter thread from broadcaster and writer Keith Walsh, who took to the platform to ask people about the words Irish people always mispronounce.
Some of the responses are gas.
Bruschetta
A family favourite starter for many, but not pronounced how you'd think:
Italian colleague ordered Bruschetta with correct pronunciation “Broos-Ketta”. Irish waiter asked “Do you mean the Brush-Etta?” Also love how Irish people turn huge chains into family businesses “Tesco’s, Aldi’s, Lidl’s”

What about every Irish Mammy's favourite American city - Chicargo?
Or those who insist on turning gigantic chains like Aldi and Lidl into a small family owned grocery shop!
'Solfadene' , 'Lidls' , 'Chicargo' - all well-loved Irish pronunciations but my favourite is the Dublin special 'Star Trak'.
