There's such a waiting list for the NCT now that it's worth your while making sure you're going to pass before your date comes around.
And if you own a Chevrolet, Citroen or Vauxhall, you might need to be extra vigilant.
Those three makes were the most likely to fail the NCT test in 2021 - with a whopping 68% of Chevrolets failing to meet the safety standard.
That was followed by Citroen (58%), Vauxhall (56%), Alfa Romeo and Daihatsu (both 55%) rounding out the top five most likely to miss the mark at the NCT centre.
According to data from CarTakeBack.ie, Porsche, Lexus and Dacia cars had the highest pass rates.
Meanwhile the Castlerea NCT centre in Co Roscommon recorded the highest failure rate.
And the most common things to fail the test on were:
- front suspension (7%),
- beams (6%),
- brake lines-hoses (5%),
- brake components (4%)
- steering linkage (4%).
So make sure and get them checked out if you're heading for your test soon!
